Early life

Nik Wallenda was born on January 24, 1979, in Sarasota, Florida. His parents are Delilah Wallenda and Terry Troffer. He was a daredevil since his childhood. When his parents gave him a swing, he climbed up and somersaulted the crossbar.

At the same time, he started performing in the circus act along with their family. He performed at the SeaWorld San Diego for the first time in his life in 1981 and gained enough recognition.

Besides this, he also started walking on the wire while holding his mother’s hand at the young age of two years. Soon he learned to walk on the wire on his own. His parents supported him seeing him passionate about the dares and challenges he used to compete. His parents make him the practice walking on he wore through throwing different objects and also shot him with a gun to train him.

He made several circus acts including being a clown, juggler and also did dog acts. He started his professional career at the age of 13 by walking on a tight rope. Moreover, he explored more options after completing his graduation.

He wanted to become a doctor but soon changed his decision after gaining popularity in a recreation of Karl Wallenda’s seven-person pyramid on the high wire along with his family in Detroit.

Personal life

Wallenda proposed Erendira  Vasquez who also belongs to the circus family on a 30 feet high wire during a performance in Quebec.

He proposed her while walking on the wire when he reached in middle and got down on a knee in front of 25000 people. The couple married just after the week. They have three children and they successfully run Wallenda’s inc.

Wallenda is a faithful and religious man, and according to him the credit of his success goes to the God who made him capable of performing these stunts. He always used to pray, when he start any performance.

He was the one who stayed at the pyramid during an act while his family descended.


Wallenda appeared in Japan’s Kurashiki Tivoli park with the seven members of his family where he attempted the world’s first eight-person high wire pyramid. For this, he was also named in the Guinness world record.

From 2002 till 2005 he performed various stunts alongside his wife and children in Wet N Wild Emerald Pointe In North Carolina.

Besides this, he also performed on the double version of the wheel of steel. In 2008 he performed a very difficult stunt of a bicycle ride. A few steps before completing his ride he was slipped and regained the balance and completed the ride in 5 minutes.

In 2009 he walked across America on a high wire and thousands of people witnessed his victory. He also rode a bicycle on the high wire in the Bahamas above the ocean and 2011 maintained his wheel of a death record by performing several acts in New Jersey.  The same year he completed 100 foo long high wire and performed while hanging from the helicopter in Missouri.

Then in 2012, the Niagra Fall event made him super successful and opened the doors of many opportunities. After that vents including canyon Walk, Skyscraper Live, Volcano Live adds the cherry on the cake.
