John Madden was born on April 10, 1936, in Minnesota, USA. His father name was Earl Russell Madden and mother’s Mary Margaret Madden. His father was an auto mechanic. When John was young, his family moved to Daly City, California. He did his schooling from Catholic parochial school and done his graduation from Jefferson High School.
He was a football star in his high school and initially played one season as well in 1954. The University of Oregon also awarded him a football scholarship. He also attended College of San Mateo in 1955. Then he moved to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
