Early Life
John Madden was born on April 10, 1936, in Minnesota, USA. His father’s name was Earl Russell Madden and mother’s Mary Margaret Madden. His father was an auto mechanic. When John was young, his family moved to Daly City, California. He did his schooling from Catholic parochial school and done his graduation from Jefferson High School.
Career
He was a football star in his high school and initially played one season as well in 1954. The University of Oregon also awarded him a football scholarship. He also attended the College of San Mateo in 1955. Then he moved to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
He played on two different positions for Mustangs. He did his MA in education in 1961. John Madden was a catcher on Cal Poly’s baseball team. In 1958, John was drafted by NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles in the 21st round. But before starting his professional career, John met an unfortunate knee injury.
