Early Life
Diplo was born in 1978 in the state of Mississippi. Diplo’s father and mother names are Thomas Pentz and Barbara Jean respectively. Diplo spent most of his teenage and youth life in Miami. He took admission in the University of Central Florida in the year 1997. After completing studies from the University of Florida, Diplo moved to Temple University to further carry on his studies. This is the same university from where he got attention as a DJ.
In 2003, Diplo and his fellow DJ Low Budget used to throw parties. As these parties became successful, the duo released their different mixtapes. Never Scared, was one of those mixtapes that made it to one of The New York Times’ top ten albums of 2003.
Career
Before coming into the music world, when Diplo was studying from Temple University, he used to do different jobs to earn his livelihood. He was a social worker in his town. He also worked as a movie theatre employee. Those days were so tough that he didn’t have the house rent to pay. So, Diplo and his like-minded friends DJ Low Budget started their own work. They created Hollertronix. Under the Hollertronix signature, both the DJs released Never Scared mixtape which was a super hit mixtape.
In 2004, Diplo released his solo debut album with the help of Big Data. The album focused more on melody and instruments. After that, Diplo did a lot of considerable work in the world of music. Piracy Funds Terrorism, Vol. 1 mixtape is one of the most acclaimed works of Diplo. He released the mixtape in 2004.
As mentioned above, Diplo worked with many international celebrities. For Major Lazer’s Know No Better EP, Diplo searched and took on-board Sean Paul, Camila Cabello, Quavo, Travis Scott, and more. In 2017, Diplo released quite a few singles under his name.
