Brien has five siblings including three brothers and two sisters. He went to Brookline High School where he accomplished his services as the managing director of the school newspaper called The Sagamore.

He also briefly played drums in a band named bad clams, wrote humor magazine for the Harvard Lampoon and created a spoof of the video game one on one Drj.vs Larry bird during the college period.

O’Brien found his love Elizabeth Ann popularly known as Liza Powel on the set of his show late night with Conan O’Brien in 2000 in an advertising skit where she worked as a senior copywriter. The couple dated for around 18 months and then married in 2002 in Powel’s hometown in Seattle. The couple welcomed their daughter neve in 2003 and a son Beckett in 2005.

Besides that, Conan owned a big mansion worth $10.5 million in Brentwood, Los Angeles to move there in 2009 to host his show the tonight show at Universal Studios in Hollywood.
